CEO Update – 10th April 2018

Dear Members,
A BIG thank you to Scott Cogar and his excellent team at the Broady who hosted the LAW Lunch on Friday. The food was fantastic, and the Angove Wines were lovely. It was a very successful event and everyone who attended certainly networked. It was great to see some new faces and welcome back some regulars, we will be having another in May and hope you can attend. The Broadwater Hotel is the Chambers hospitality partner.

The invitation has gone out for the April Business After Hours, 17th at 5.30pm which is being hosted by Hertz and Transwest Tyres at the Trans West workshop in Beaver Street. It will be a great night for sure and in another unique location. Once again please register.

Please save the date now for the Tom O’Toole Breakfast, Tom is a legend in regional retail and the owner of the Beechworth Bakery which is now world famous and employs over 200 employees. He will be speaking at a breakfast here in Geraldton on Thursday 19th April 7.30 – 9.00, it will be hosted by Harbour View and is limited seating, so book now. This is a fundraising breakfast for Tom’s charity drive for the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute. Tickets are $45 per head. Please come along and hear his tips which work.

The Chamber was visited by representatives of the Reserve Bank for an invite only lunch. It was quite informative and certainly gave us some insights to how economic predictions are worked out. We have asked if they would come up to Geraldton and bring us up to date more often. Hopefully once a year.

It was great to see all the Rotarians in town last weekend and a number of businesses commented on brisk trade, tourism at its best. The weather was fabulous, and the three Rotary Clubs did very well in making it a success. I was also thrilled to see Mr & Mrs Rigter were recognised for their outstanding community service.

Also, a special welcome to returning resident Liam Hunt who is son of Dan Hunt who played for the Buccaneers, Liam has taken up the mantle and played last weekend’s two away games, congratulations to the team for their wins in both games and it’s a home game this week on Saturday night. Great family entertainment.

Wishing you all a great Week.

Cheers,
